Head-on accident injures four

Four people were seriously injured earlier this evening when the two vehicles they were riding in collided nearly head-on at the intersection of State Road 135 and Demaree Road.  White River Township Fire Department paramedics and rescue workers arrived at the scene within minutes of the 8:12 p.m. incident and treated the four victims who had varying injuries, some of them potentially life-threatening.  All were transported to the hospital via ambulance with two going to the Methodist Trauma Center in Indianapolis.  The cause of the accident remains unknown at press time and it was unclear if anyone had been using seatbelts.  Firefighters remained at the scene for about an hour-and-a-half while accident investigators conducted an investigation.
