Emergency phones installed
The White River
Township Fire Department recently installed emergency telephones at each of the
agency's three buildings. These phones are located on the outside of each
station near the main entrance and will automatically dial 9-1-1 when the
handset is picked up. The purpose of each phone is to enable an
individual, who stops at the fire station to report an emergency, the ability to
call for help if the crew is off station. "People know where the fire
stations are and often drive in to summon help", said Fire Chief Jeremy Pell.
"We want to make sure that we are accessible at all times, even when we're on
another call or off station for whatever reason", he added. The new phones
access existing phones lines within the buildings, so no new phone service was
necessary.
