Slick roads blamed in injuries
Slick roads were blamed for three accidents in Johnson County this morning which sent three persons to area hospitals. Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies said a Martinsville woman suffered possible knee and abdominal injuries in a two-car accident about 7:35 a.m. this morning on State Road 37, approximately one and one-half miles north of State Road 144. Authorities said Eba Forrester, 33, was treated at the scene by White River Township rescue workers and transported to Morgan County Hospital by the Myers Ambulance Service. Sheriff’s Deputy Gary Miller said the Forrester woman was a passenger in the northbound car driven by Juanita K. Morgan, 23, Martinsville. Miller said that car and one driven by Cindy J. Nohe, 18, Bargersville Route One, were involved in a collision when one of the vehicles went into a spin on the slick highway.
Two personal injury accidents at the same location in southern Johnson County were also investigated by Miller, who said slick roads were again the factor. Both accidents occurred about 9:15 a.m. this morning on County Road 300W, near the intersection with 700S. Miller said the incident began when a northbound 1975 Jeep driven by Larry G. Sizemore, 17, Trafalgar Route One, went out of control and overturned in a ditch. Sizemore reportedly suffered a head laceration, and was transported to Johnson County Memorial Hospital by the A-1 Ambulance Service. Authorities there said he was treated and released. Miller said less than a minute after the first accident; a truck which had stopped at the crest of a hill near the scene was accidentally struck from behind by another truck, which reportedly slid on the icy road prior to the collision. The drivers were identified as Welby L. Rooks, 35, Trafalgar Route One, and Harry L. Wells, 74, Nashville Route Three. A passenger in the Wells truck, Matilda D. Wells, 66, same address, complained of neck pains following the accident, Miller said. (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
