$2,000 damage in home fire early today

A bedroom fire caused an estimated $2,000 in damages to a two-bedroom frame home shortly after dawn today in the Hendricks Addition near Greenwood.  White River Township Fire Chief Robert Wehrman said fire broke out near a bedroom closet at 8:20a.m., at the residence of Audie Dunning, Route 5, Greenwood.  Further damage was eliminated due to a neighbor's call to the White River Township Volunteer Fire Department which had the blaze under control within 15 minutes after three units arrived on the scene.  The Dunnings and their two children were not at home at the time fire broke out.  The fire spread from the bedroom to the hallway before being extinguished.  Actual cause of the fire remained undetermined, pending an investigation by local fire authorities.  (Courtesy of the Daily Journal)
