Thefts in CG may be linked

         Burglaries at three Center Grove area homes this week could be linked, Chief Johnson County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Cox said.  On Friday, a woman called 911 after hearing someone breaking into her home on Highland Park Drive, a police report said. The woman was inside the home with her two children and saw a white van speed out of her driveway, the report said.

         Earlier in the week, a $150,000 car was stolen from a home in the same subdivision, Highland Park, off Olive Branch Road.  Across the road, a home in Brockton Manor was broken into, and leather jackets and other items were missing.  One man has been arrested in Friday's break-in, and police are looking for other suspects, Cox said.  Residents have reported seeing a white van in the neighborhood.

         Brian K. Wynne, 42, of 40 S. Alabama St., Indianapolis, was arrested on charges of burglary and residential entry. He is being held at the Johnson County jail on $11,000 bond.

         The Highland Park Drive resident told police she heard a loud banging noise, followed by footsteps. She rushed her children outside and called police shortly after 9 a.m., according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.  Deputies stopped a white van near the home. Muddy footprints inside the home matched the boots Wynne, the driver, was wearing, the report said.  The officers were able to find the vehicle quickly because they already were patrolling in the area due to the other break-ins.  Nothing was taken from the home.  In the other burglary in Highland Park, a $150,000 Ford GT car, TVs worth more than $9,000, a gun and other items were taken between Sunday evening and Thursday afternoon, sheriff's detectives said.  The homeowner, who was in Florida at the time of the burglary, is trying to sell the house, the report said. A real estate agent staged an open house at the home Sunday afternoon. When the agent went to the home Thursday to prepare to show the house, he found drawers open and leaves that had blown in from outside, the report said.  The car had been kept in the garage, and the keys were taken from a drawer in a bedroom, the report said.  Also missing from the house were a revolver worth $325 and a drawer from the hutch in the dining room. The homeowner was unsure what was in the drawer, the report said.  Televisions taken from the home included a 42-inch plasma worth $6,000 and a 32-inch plasma worth $3,000, the report said.  Since the homeowner was away during the initial investigation, it is unclear what other items could be missing, the report said. Investigators don't know what day the burglary happened.

         On Thursday, a woman reported someone broke into her home on Berkshire Boulevard in Brockton Manor, a report said.  She reported seeing a white van in the area after a suspicious man came to the door a few weeks ago, the report said.  A neighbor also saw a man looking in windows while a white van followed him, the report said.  (Reprinted with permission from the Daily Journal)
