Social events planned
The Highland Park Social Committee released the following letter recently to announce the remaining social events for the rest of 2004. The letter was reproduced from an e-mail sent to all Highland Park homeowners who have an address on file.

Hello fellow neighbors. As a member
of the social committee, I wanted to write and
update you on a few things happening within our
neighborhood. We had such a great time and a great
turn out with our last neighborhood picnic a few
weeks ago that plans are well underway to scheduled
the next gathering.
First off...we have the date in place
for our next neighborhood social event. Please mark
your calendars for Saturday, September
25th. The committee noticed the
interest or want for a "deck crawl" party according
to the survey sheets everyone filled out at the
picnic. Therefore, that is what we plan to do.
The start time is 6pm. It will be an all
adult only event. We are looking
for volunteers to help host this special night. Are
there any of you out there who would like to
volunteer the use of your back deck or patio/pool
area for this event? We have one volunteer but need
several more to make the night a success. If your
able to host, please email me back or call me as
soon as possible. My email address is:
TheSeamans@sbcglobal.net and my home phone #
is: 888-8937. We will also need everyone to RSVP
for this event. You can RSVP by calling or emailing
me as well. Please mention this event to your
neighbors in case they do not have an email address
on file with us. Feel free to give them my contact
information in regard to any questions or RSVP's
they have.
As a volunteer for the deck crawl,
you will only be opening up your deck to the people
attending. The appetizers, drinks, etc. will be
assigned to each resident who RSVP's for this
event. Hosts will be assigned an item to bring as
well but there will not be a need for any host to
make extra dishes or provide more food at their home
just because you are hosting at some point in the
evening. Each household will be assigned one item
to bring. RSVP's are very important for that
reason.
We plan to do another deck crawl in
the spring of next year as well. Therefore, if you
volunteer to host & we don't use your deck or home
this time around, we will contact you for the spring
event. Several volunteers are needed though - the
more the merrier!
Not only is the deck crawl planned
but the date is also set for our Christmas
progressive dinner. Please mark your calendars for
Saturday, December 4th at 7pm.
We need volunteers interested in showing off the
inside of their beautiful homes and their Christmas
decorations for this event. If your up for the
task, we'd love to visit your home during the night
of our Christmas party. Please contact me if you
able to volunteer as a "host home." It will
function just as the deck crawls do. (If your
hosting, no need to make extra food. We will
assign each resident to an item and have them bring
it to the progressive dinner) We are sticking with
mainly appetizer type foods for this event as well.
This party will also be adults only.
Again, any residents interested in
hosting one or more of these events, please email or
call me as soon as you have a free moment. Also, if
you plan to be at the fall deck crawl on September
25th....please RSVP before September 1st.
Lastly, for those who are unaware,
the neighborhood website is now up and functioning.
The address to reach the site is
www.HighlandParkHomeowners.com A big thanks to
Scott Cassin for all of his hard work on the site
itself. Feel free to visit the site for any and all
exciting information in regard to our neighborhood.
The social committee is
looking forward to the months ahead. We have a lot
of neat ideas that you will hear more about as time
goes on. Watch for details through emails, the
website, or signs posted within the neighborhood
itself. Take care and keep in touch. We are hoping
to see all of you on September 25th. More details
will follow soon.
PS....There was some neighborhood
vandalism reported last week throughout our streets
as well as into Brockton Manor and Willow Lakes. As
many of you know, these sort of things can become
extremely frustrating and can be costly and even
dangerous if they have the ability to escalate.
Please keep your eyes and ears open to any
mischievous behavior. If you happen to see
something, please let one of our board members know
or report it to authorities if need be. Thanks so
much!
